Aviation, fitness sales drive Garmin profit; shares jump

This year, p90X3 workouts Sweaty Saturday’s proceeds will be donated to the Partnership for a Healthier America, an organization focused on solving childhood obesity. As compared to 2012, the studio participation for Sweaty Saturday has doubled — with over 40 studio partners. As a kick-off to and preview of Sweaty Saturday, there will be an exclusive sneak-peek “one-of-a-kind master mashup class” on Thursday, February 20th, 9:00am at Sweaty Betty. An extremely unique master class has been organized and will feature some of the city’s top studios and celebrity instructions including: Sadie Kurzban (305 Fitness), Khori Petinaud (Flybarre), Erica Giovinazzo (BRICK CrossFit), Daury Dross (The Fhitting Room) and Lauren Imparato (I.Am.You.).

Fitness tracker Basis said to be shopping itself to Apple, Google

The company recently posted — and deleted — a job posting for a ” User Studies Exercise Physiologist .” According to the ad, Apple seeks candidates who are knowledgeable about cardiovascular fitness and can put that knowledge toward product design.

Much of that was driven by strong sales in the company’s aviation and fitness businesses. Aviation unit sales jumped 25 percent to $87.4 million in the quarter. The unit makes audio panels and collision avoidance systems for aircraft makers such as Textron Inc’s Cessna and Bombardier Inc’s LearJet.
